The adorable orphaned male walrus calf from Barrow, Alaska has settled in nicely to his new quarters at the Alaska SeaLife Center. No word on a name but he does seem to be very happy!

Horse Meat on Menu in New York

There is a cafe in Long Island City, Queens (New York) the M. Wells Dinette at MoMA PS I, that according to The Persian Horse's Blog, is selling horse meat.

From the blog:

Aidan O’Neal, a manager of the restuarant, said he and chef Hugue Dufour discussed importing Canadian horsemeat and think New Yorkers are ready to try a new taste.

“New York is a great city for that,” he said.

“I think New York diners are very open to eating other things.”

According to the blog, it is legal to offer horse meat in New York restaurants.

Chesty Gets a Promotion

Perhaps you heard how the Marine Corps' mascot, Chesty, got into a bit of an altercation with a golden retriever belonging to a superior officer, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta. Despite the altercation, Chesty still earned his stripes!

Dunder, age 2

I love this time-lapse series of Dunder the German Shepherd as he grows from age 1 to age 2. He may not change much in size and stature but he does demonstrate that even at 2, dogs are still big puppies!

Too funny! We've seen dogs tickle the ivories and some sing along while others play, but this little guy is the complete package! A howling good time!
