Seal Alert
I'm a sucker for a seal and here's a new babe, born January 1 at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. That white fur will son start to molt and he'll be grey like his mom, but how cute is he now?

Teach Your Dog (and Your Kid) to Read
Lots of libraries have these kind of reading programs with your dogs and I have seen, firsthand, how they really do work. Dogs are marvelously nonjudgmental and this program takes that one step further by suggesting that kids learning to read can also possibly teach their dog as well.
I'm willing to wager that if you have a young readar in your house, this program will work for all of you!

These are the stories that tear at my heart. This dog is so lucky she was rescued by this kind gentleman but how horrible that she had to be rescued.

Wave Theory--Penguin Style
Wave theory as it applies to King penguins who move the huddle from any point inside it to find themselves the ideal position. Similar to traffic jams and fascinating.

Castaways
We, in Philadelphia, have a similar program at Graterford Prison called New Leash on Life. This is an example of win/win/win and very heartwarming.
