Deja Vu

Deja vu all over again.

Union Rags, above, trained by Michael Matz, has arrived at Churchill Downs to begin Derby preparations. He can be found in Barn 42, stall 10, the same stall Barbaro occupied when he won the Derby in 2006. Matz was also Barbaro's trainer.

“He’s in the same barn and same stall as Barbaro was six years ago,” said Matz. “He’s even got the same groom, Eduardo Hernandez, Barbaro had when he won the Derby.”

Another Derby hopeful, Went the Day Well arrived at Churchill about a half hour before Union Rags. Went the Day Well can be found in the stall of last year's Derby winner, Animal Kingdom. Went the Day Well is also trained by Graham Motion.

And who says horsemen are not superstitious?!
