I'll Have Another Runs down Bodemeister

Wow. What a stretch drive and what a finish. There is no doubt after the Preakness that I'll Have Another is a contender and while it troubles me that a trainer with medication violations is in the running for a Triple Crown, take nothing away from the horse. He has heart and determination and he got a perfect ride from Mario Gutierrez, who waited until the perfect time to make the perfect move.

To me, it looked like I'll Have Another veered out coming down the stretch and continued to lug to his right until he was about a length behind Bodemeister. No one else seems to be making too much of this, but if the horse had run in a perfect straight line down the stretch he would have won by a larger distance.

Take nothing away from Bodemeister; he is a good horse and Baffert is right in not entering him in the Belmont. There is no way he could run that far. Union Rags and Dullahan will be determined to thwart the Triple Crown and you can be sure that Gutierrez will have a huge bulls eye on his back; the race riding will be tough to beat especially if he gets an inside post.

34 years since the last Triple Crown; do you think it's time for history to be made? Only time will tell, specifically three weeks so stay tuned.
